A Foldable Craft Activity:
Plot, Setting, and Theme

These two foldable activities can be used with any fictional texts. It can be completed as a during-reading activity or a post-reading activity to give students an opportunity to reflect upon the book. The foldables can also be inserted into interactive notebooks for future reference.

The first activiy is a three-page template entitled "A Story Snapshot" and folds accordian-style into nine different panels. Students will identify the setting, theme, and plot (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) of the book or story they have read. They also get to make some final judgments about the story.

The second activiy is a two-page template entitled "A Lot About PLOT!", and it folds into 6 separate panels. The panels focus exclusively on plot elements (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution).

This resource includes detailed instructions (with photos!!) for your students to follow. It also includes a teacher instruction page that lists the exact materials you need to prepare for this activity.
