Denotation  and 

Connotation Sort 


Here is a simple, but effective activity to help students distinguish between denotation and connotation. This activity works best with pairs of students. It can also be done with groups of three students. Its a great activity to use after a mini-lesson. It can also be used for a review activity or formative assessment.
